If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed a huge influx of #operationlayla tweets from me. What on earth is that? Well sit for a spell and I’ll tell ya!
Layla is one of my most favorite Twitter/blog peeps. We talk daily and have tons in common. Unfortunately, Layla has had gone thru quite an ordeal in the past few years and desperately needed an operation to improve her quality of life but lacked the funds to pay for it. And what do you do when you friend is in need? You step in and help of course! So along with my other awesome Twitter/blog peeps, we got together and made a plan of attack to try to raise funds of Layla’s operation. We used the very social media that made us all friends to raise 4 THOUSAND DOLLARS in TWO DAYS. Yep, most of us have never had the great opportunity to meet this awesome girl in person, but that didn’t stop us from tweeting, facebooking, & blogging our little hearts out to help her! Social media FTW!
We’ve raised the money for the op but now we are having a bake sale to raise funds for the other expenses that usually go along with such surgeries and the money over the amount needed will go to charities.
So…where do the cookies come in? You see, I’m donating 2 dozen oatmeal raisin cookies that you can bid on today from 8am-11pm on the Operation Layla blog.
