As we all know, when fall comes along, it brings with it beautiful foliage, cooler weather, and most importantly, the merriment that is Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes! YUM!!! I noticed a lot of bloggers loving on the lattes recently and a few have tried to replicate the wonderfulness that is this seasonal drink. Allie from Live Laugh Eat makes pumpkin spice coffee by stirring in a spoonful of TJ’s pumpkin butter along with a dash of pumpkin pie spice into her morning cup of joe while Analiese at Tulips and Tea said the secret to capturing the magical essense of the latte is to use canned pumpkin (which I found at Harris Teeter, score!). So far I’ve tried the pumpkin butter in coffee and thought it was only okay (maybe I’m not doing it right?). However, it is important to note that I did try it in espresso and preferred much more in that. I have yet to try the canned pumpkin but when I do, I’ll be sure to report back!
My other food chemistry projects include homemade granola bars:
I made a mad dash out of the house yesterday without eating breakfast and it was one of the WORST ideas EVER. I ALWAYS eat breakfast. And when I don’t…it makes for a miserable me come dinnertime, which leads me to be mean/grouchy to Andy until after I eat.
In an effort to avoid turning into Mr.Jekyll on him, I looked online for a granola bar recipe I could make real quick so as to have something to ready to go in the morning for this week. (Since this was my first attempt at the endeavor, and I wrote this post last night, I can’t tell you how they taste yet, haha)
